Charlotte, NC — July 15, 2005 — It was the middle of July in Charlotte, NC. The mid-afternoon temperature was 86° F and the relative humidity was 61% (although I’m sure that if you asked any of them it was lots hotter and WAY more humid than that). A handful of brave Faison volunteers opted to leave the quiet, air-conditioned comfort of their offices, and spend the day swinging a paint brush, a hammer, or a caulking gun, and generally doing what they could to make one little corner of the world a nicer place to live. They worked hard, laughed and talked a lot, and when the day was over they had managed to give the entire house two coats of paint, caulk all of the windows and doors, and nail and caulk all of the baseboards. Great job people. Everyone felt a real spirit of camaraderie and sense of satisfaction; in fact, many said that they would do it again.
Faison has made a commitment to support charitable programs throughout the community. This is one example of that commitment. In addition to the sweat equity of 15 volunteers expended in one day’s work, Faison made a financial contribution to the Charlotte Habitat for Humanity to pay for the cost of a new house for another family.
