Howard S. Biel, Ph. D.

Dr. Biel is responsible for all real estate acquisitions and development for the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region. He was with Faison from 1994 through 1997, and returned in March of 2002. During the interim, he served as Chief Development Officer at Federal Realty Investment Trust and was responsible for all community center and street retail development activity, and as President of Palisades Realty & Development, his own privately held entity which merged with Faison to re-launch the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Retail Office.
Dr. Biel's real estate career began with the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation in 1979 where he served as Senior Vice President for Development, and then with Western Development Corporation where he was Executive Vice President responsible for leasing, management, and development.
Dr. Biel has a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Economic Geography from Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University. He maintains memberships with Association of American Geographers, International Council of Shopping Centers, and Urban Land Institute where he has actively served for many years on the Urban Mixed-Use Development Council. |

James C. Castillo

Mr. Castillo is responsible for the development of numerous retail projects and for overseeing construction of each development project in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Castillo joined Faison in 2004; he brings 25 years of experience during which he has developed and constructed approximately seven million square feet of leasable area and has had responsibility for budgets in excess of $750 million.
Mr. Castillo's real estate career began as Development Manager and Partner at Terranomics Development in Washington, D.C., and most recently as Vice President and Development Director at both Starwood Urban/Urban Investment Advisors and Prime Retail.
Mr. Castillo earned his undergraduate degree from The School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is also a member of International Council of Shopping Centers. |

T. Andrew (Drew) Gorman

Mr. Gorman is responsible for all leasing and sales activities for the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining Faison in 2002, He was Senior Vice President of Development with Palisades Realty and Development. Mr. Gorman enjoyed an eight year career with Federal Realty Investment Trust where he successfully leased over 1.2 million square feet of space with an aggregate lease value in excess of $250 million. During his tenure, he held various positions and became Chief Operating Officer-Northeast Region in 1999.
Mr. Gorman has a Bachelor of Science from Towson State University and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola College. He is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers. |

Joanne M. Molinari

Ms. Molinari is responsible for all real estate financial analysis, land contract administration, project finance, and property acquisitions and dispositions for the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region. She began her real estate career with Western Development (now the Mills Corporation) in Washington, D.C. in 1981 and joined Faison in 1994.
Ms. Molinari has a Bachelor of Arts from Eisenhower College, a Masters from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Masters from Tulane University. |

David B. Chandler

Mr. Chandler is responsible for placing short and long-term debt for the company as well as structuring equity investments, he has placed debt totaling over $2 billion.
Prior to joining Faison in 1992, Mr. Chandler was Trust Investment Officer and Real Estate Asset Manager at Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was also with the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa, providing fixed rate, permanent debt.
Mr. Chandler has undergraduate and Master of Science degrees in Real Estate Appraisal and Investment Analysis from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. |

Prior to joining Faison in 1993, he worked with Development Corporation of Virginia, Metropolitan Life, and JP Morgan in various real estate development and lending positions.
Mr. Barnett received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Ithaca College. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. |

Steven H. Smith

Mr. Smith is responsible for all retail construction and development activities for North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Prior to joining Faison in 1997, He was with Disney Development Company/Walt Disney Imagineers for seven years developing numerous retail, dining, entertainment, and lodging projects throughout the country.
Mr. Smith received his Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin. He is a licensed architect and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Urban Land Institute, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. |

Christopher J. Branch

Mr. Branch grew up in Western New York and graduated from Olean High School in 1979. He then attended Bucknell University and graduated with a degree in psychology in 1983. Following his undergraduate studies, he held various positions in the construction and development industries beginning with the position of assistant superintendent for Clark Properties in Ocala, Florida. In 1985 he became project manager for Briar Construction, a regional builder/developer in the tri-state area, where he was responsible for the development of several projects in and around New York City. Mr. Branch then returned to school to earn his MBA in 1989 from Kenan-Flagler at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he focused on real estate development and finance.
After his graduation from Kenan-Flagler, Mr. Branch accepted a position with Summit Properties, a Charlotte-based apartment REIT with a $450 million market capitalization which was later purchased by Camden Properties. At Summit Properties he worked as a development manager, and later as a regional property manager, overseeing 35 employees and more than 1,000 apartment units. Mr. Branch left Summit in 1992 to start The Boulevard Company.
Between 1992 and 2011, Mr. Branch was president of The Boulevard Company where he was directly responsible for day to day operations and the development of more than 40 projects, totaling more than 3,000 residential units and 200,000 square feet of commercial property with a collective value of over $500 million. During his tenure at Boulevard, Mr. Branch gained extensive experience and expertise in the creation of complex infill projects. Significant projects include Gateway Plaza, 111 midrise condominiums with 8,500 square feet of street level retail that was part Bank of America’s redevelopment of the Gateway District in Charlotte’s CBD as well as 1225 South Church, a 196 unit podium-style Class A apartment building located just outside of Uptown Charlotte in South End, a rehabilitated industrial district.
In 2011, Mr. Branch joined Faison as Senior Managing Director of Multi-Family. His responsibilities include the development of multi-family housing throughout Faison’s footprint in the Southeastern United States as well as Texas. |

Neil B. Kapadia

Mr. Kapadia is responsible for originating new single-family lot developments in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining Faison, he was a partner in the Charlotte, North Carolina based law firm of Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein LLP where he counseled individual and institutional clients in all facets of real estate development, acquisition, sales, leasing, and financing. In addition to practicing law, he has also developed several residential neighborhoods for national homebuilders, and has been an active commercial real estate investor.
Mr. Kapadia received his Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Duke University and his Juris Doctor from The University of Virginia School of Law. |

Thomas W. Brasse

Mr. Brasse is responsible for overseeing all of the Charlotte area’s land development efforts. He brings 13 years of development, construction, engineering, and environmental experience to the company. Prior to joining Faison, he was Land Development Manager for KB Home in Charlotte where he was responsible for over $16 million in development projects. His experience also included time with Charlotte firms Hart & Hickman, PC, Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., Law Engineering, and GeoScience Group in the fields of environmental engineering, construction management, geotechnical evaluation, and construction materials testing.
Mr. Brasse received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the State University of New York at Oswego. He is a Professional Geologist in North Carolina, and a licensed Real Estate Broker in North and South Carolina. Mr. Brasse is actively involved in the HomeBuilders Association of Charlotte as the Chairman of the Land Development Council. He is also the 2011 Chairman of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC). |

Edward M. Cherry

Mr. Cherry is Senior Managing Director of Commercial Development with responsibility for retail and office properties.
Prior to joining Faison in 2000, Mr. Cherry was a Senior Vice President with Wachovia Corporation in their Real Estate Investment Group. At Wachovia, Mr. Cherry was involved in the acquisition, development, management, and disposition of commercial properties on a nationwide basis.
Mr. Cherry has an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, a Master of Economics from North Carolina State University, and a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst. |
