FAISON Announces Sale of Independence Site to WAL-MART
Wal-Mart SuperCenter, Charlotte, NC
Charlotte, NC- August 25, 2009 - Faison and Associates is pleased to announce the sale of Amity Gardens Shopping Center to Wal-Mart. Located on Independence Boulevard at Pierson Drive, the project will involve the demolition of the existing shopping center and will be redeveloped with a 155,000 square foot Wal-Mart SuperCenter. The projected is anticipated to open in the first quarter of 2011.
“The redevelopment of this property encountered numerous development obstacles,” stated Bill Barnett, managing director with Faison Enterprises, Inc, “We are pleased to have completed this transaction with Wal-Mart which will serve as a catalyst for future development along the Independence corridor and serve East Charlotte residents.”
Faison and Wal-Mart worked closely with numerous City and State agencies including the City of Charlotte Planning and Zoning Departments, City of Charlotte Economic Development Group, NC and City of Charlotte Departments of Transportation, Charlotte City Council members and N.C.DENR- North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources.
“Without the collaborative efforts from the various City and State agencies, this project would not have come to fruition,” continues Barnett. “The City of Charlotte was extremely interested in making this project happen and the redevelopment will benefit the city long-term”.
